- he was killed by a stingray off of the queensland coast
- He was biten by a string ray on the great barrier reef. The ray stung him in the chest. Rays attack if frightened and Irwin was very close to the ray and couldn't get away from it quick enough. He most likely would have survived had the ray not stung him in the chest (heart)
- Stingray stuck him threw the heart, I will miss his shows , My sons and I always watched "crocodile hunter"
- A stingray pierced his heart
- What happento him was that he was in the water abviously moving and startled a sting ray and the sting ray defense (the tail) struck him in a vital organ. also the poor man was struck by a rare sting ray that is venomous. it was the chest where he was struck! Very sad.....
- his number was up and he bought the big one
- if you go to news on yahoo.com - it will give you a few news reports - but basically a stingray's barb struck his heart while he was diving
- He's just became a legend
- Steve Irwin died doing what he loved. As selfish as it may be, his family must have understood his enormous love of the wild life. I always loved to watch him and I cried today to hear he was gone, yet I admire his continued ability to find something frightning and bring it to all of us in a humorous manner. Bless him, his family and bless the creatures whom he made his life. He died doing what he loved, apparently, and so I know he left this earth a man of men. If ownly we could all learn a lesson from this. The ocean is full of wild life. Each creature is designed to protect itself in what ever way it can, most of them have venom, some not life threatening, yet look at this. I respect the ocean. I can only hope this is a lesson. If you think you can invaid the lives of creatures whose whole purpose is survival, then think again. They only have one choice. Steve Irwin will be missed, and I hope his new journey is just as fulfilling...
- He died. Enough about this guy already!
- he tried to take a ride on a stingray
- i will never forget the image of steve irwin talking to the camera while sharks were in a feeding frenzy all around him while he stood in the water...the guy was a crazy kook but he was fascinating, funny and very entertaining...i kind of felt one day his luck would run out the way he took risks dealing with wildlife but i would never have guessed it would take a stingray to be the culprit....my condolences to his friends and family....he was one of a kind and his legacy will continue as his shows run on animal planet
- He got killed by a Stingray, it got him rite in the heart. HOW DEPRESSING!! I mean hes worked with so many dangerous animals, and then he dies from it? i always thought that he would die an old person just from being old, never becase of an animal. he was way too good with them. seriously. i cried so much when i heard he had diedl.

- He kinda like died, you know? He was three feet on top of a stingray and the stingray felt trapped and defended itself. The say the video that they took of him showed when he pulled the barb out and just died. So sad....
- I was just sitting here, thinking about Steve Irwin and said to myself, go to Yahoo answers and see how others feel. Thanks for posting this question. Steve Irwin made me think about animals in a whole new way. I have a greater respect for animals because of him. I used to watch crocodile hunters alot, but in the last couple of years, I moved on to other interests. I just feel very sad about him dying at such a young age. I'm 55 and I guess it makes me feel lucky I'm still alive. Steve Irwin had such a fun personality, I always had the feeling that he was a geniune person, and what you saw is what you got. I would laugh so hard watching him. A very cool person! I love you Steve! Have just as much fun in heaven! Anyhow, I uploaded 2 videos to youtube, a tribute and Crocodile Hunter, most embarrassing moments. That one will make you laugh!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wCnNFyW2jk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nv7e1Qwxj1w This is a really cool video of Steve Irwin, with some of his most embarrassing moments!
